Play. explore. learn. Be confident

Social Interaction workshops

LJL in partnership with Refugee Settlement Office offers workshops to youth to become more confident and empowered in their interactions in the U.S.

Social Interaction Workshop

One of the challenges faced by current refugee middle-school students is the difficulty of social interaction, as they often grapple with language barriers, cultural differences, and a sense of isolation in their new environment.

Workshop Benefits

Social Interaction Workshop 3

Enhanced Confidence

The workshops focus on building the confidence of young participants, helping them feel more assured in their daily interactions, whether at school, in their communities, or in social situations. This increased self-confidence can lead to greater success in various aspects of their lives.

Improved Communication Skills

The workshops aim to improve the communication skills of the youth, equipping them with the ability to express themselves more clearly and effectively. This skill is essential for building relationships, pursuing educational opportunities, and eventually succeeding in the job market.

Cultural Adaptation

As newcomers to the United States, many refugee youth may encounter challenges related to cultural adaptation. These workshops provide guidance and support to help them better understand and integrate into their new cultural environment.

Overall, the workshops offer a comprehensive support system for refugee youth, addressing not only immediate needs but also providing the tools and knowledge required to thrive in their new home country.

NOvember event

Social Intraction workshop

We had an amazing time hosting a social interaction workshop for refugees of all ages! We played some fun team-building activities, collected over 15 cultural short stories and artwork, and donated 300+ diapers and 40+ backpacks to kids in need. We're so grateful to Jessie, Sameer, and Jennifer, the rest of the Refugee Resettlement Office (RRO) staff and our generous donors for making this event a success! We're looking forward to publishing the cultural stories and artwork soon. Stay tuned!

Workshop focuses on..

Designed to help children realize their potential

Empowerment

The workshops instill a sense of empowerment in the youth, encouraging them to take control of their futures and make informed decisions. This empowerment can inspire them to pursue higher education, set career goals, and become active members of their communities.

Access to Resources

The workshops may also provide participants with valuable information about available resources and support services, including educational and vocational opportunities, healthcare, and legal assistance, which can further aid in their successful integration and development.

Personal Growth

Through these workshops, young participants have the chance to explore their interests, set goals, and embark on a journey of personal growth and development, helping them unlock their full potential.

Social Integration

By participating in these workshops, young individuals have the opportunity to connect with their peers and build a sense of community. This social integration helps combat feelings of isolation and fosters a sense of belonging.

Career Readiness

As these workshops are designed to empower youth, they often include components focused on career readiness, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue their desired careers, leading to greater economic self-sufficiency.
